The
project
|
Achieve
a promotion & improve communications style
|
|
The
goal
|
After
being passed over for a promotion for the second time the client
wanted to develop new strategies for improving her chances of
successfully achieving a promotion the next time she applied for
one.
|
|
The
challenge
|
The
first thing we did was a 360 feedback, I had always thought
that my colleagues thought I was good at my job but the feedback showed me
that my communication style was alienating not only my peers
but my manager too. They thought I was capable but didn't enjoy working with me. |
|
The
strategy
|
Once
we understood the issue we then started to look at how I was
communicating and the reaction my communication had on others.
We worked on strategies for me to flex my style according to
the needs of those i was working with. I learnt how to develop
great partnerships within the business & collaboration skills
when working in teams. |
|
The
outcome
|
Within
a week people started to notice the difference. In the last
four months I have won two awards for outstanding performance,
and I was offered a great promotion that I didn't even have to apply
for. I feel I'm now perceived as one of the high achievers in
the company and have been fast tracked for senior management. |
|
The
Project
|
Improve
job satisfaction & time management skills |
|
The
goal
|
When
I first became a senior VP I loved the job but after many
reorganizations & a significantly higher work load I was under a
huge amount of pressure,
my performance suffered, I didn't get to
see my wife or children and I'd begun to resent my job job. I wanted to love my job again.
|
|
The
challenge
|
Bad
time management habits, a lack of planning & a great deal of
procrastination! |
|
The
strategy
|
Amanda
got me to concentrate on the key business priorities. I'd been
spending only about 20% of my time on the top 5 priorities and 80%
on the rest. I've now reversed the proportions.
We also put in more planning time up front so i didn't have to spend
time fire fighting later. I also manage my staff more effectively
empowering them rather than fixing their problems myself. |
|
The
outcome
|
It's
amazing the difference. I'm out of the door by 6pm
most evenings and my productivity has gone through the roof and as a
by-product my staff are also less stressed and happier. I
actually look forward to going to work most mornings! |
|
The
project
|
Increase
team spirit
|
|
The
goal
|
The
company recently downsized and I'd taken over a team who had lost
faith in the company they worked for and weren't sure their jobs
would be safe into the future. I needed to find a way of
increasing the teams performance fast, all of our jobs were on the
line.
|
|
The
Challenge
|
The
team didn't see themselves as a team, felt bad about surviving their
colleagues & had a complete lack of motivation to
achieve. Most were already looking for new jobs. |
|
The
strategy
|
Amanda
helped me to put into perspective what had happened so i could do
the same for my team. She showed me how to really understand what the values and motivation of each team member was
and how they could use their skills to notch up some quick wins. We also ran workshops to help improve overall
communications & team spirit. |
|
The
outcome
|
Only
one team member resigned from the company and our sales went up
significantly. Respect amongst the team has improved and
everybody believes that if they pull together as a team that we can beat anything thrown at
us. I've never felt such a
strong team spirit and it makes working with them great fun. |
|
The
project
|
Be
up and running in a new job - fast.
|
|
The
goal
|
To
cut down the time it took to become effective my new job and to
ensure that I made a good impression from the start.
|
|
The
challenge
|
The
job was in a new industry & I had a steep learning curve.
I felt I may have taken on something that was out of my depth.
It was also the first time I'd managed more than one other person. |
|
The
strategy
|
Amanda
helped me to concentrate on the important issues. She had me
set and agree expectations with everybody in my team.
She helped me to isolate the real business issues and concentrate my teams focus on achieving those. She also helped me find
a mentor who was a key influencer within the company. |
|
The
Outcome
|
My
new team actually improved performance within the first 6 months
& I received the best performance review of my life. My
boss has already given me increased responsibilities. I've
even had other asking if I would mentor them! |
|
The
project
|
Learn
management skills |
|
The
goal
|
I'd
just been promoted to a new job where I had to mange a team of
people for the very first time and although I'd been through the
usual management training quite honestly I didn't have a clue!
|
|
The
challenge
|
Lack
of management experience, didn't want to admit to new team that he
hadn't managed a team before. |
|
The
strategy
|
Amanda
showed me how to set expectations with my team right from the
start. She showed me how to coach my team to get the best out
of them and to get a good understanding of where each team members
strengths lay and how to use those strengths to help improve their
performance. She also coached me on creating a strong working
relationship with my manger & the day-to-day management
activities of performance reviews, interviewing staff etc. |
|
The
Outcome
|
I
love my job! I feel so confident knowing that I have somebody
I can ask when i come up against a new issue & my manager has
complemented me on doing a great job. In my last review my
staff gave me one of the highest reviews any manger received.
I would never have managed with out Amanda. |
|
The
project
|
To
make some hard decisions about business |
|
The
goal
|
I'd
been in business with my partner for 3 years and we're not getting
along as well as we did in the start but I wasn't sure if I wanted
to leave or not.
|
|
The
challenge
|
A
lack of clarity around life goals. Too many people pulling
him in different directions. |
|
The
strategy
|
Amanda
helped me to figure out my goals and values and the vision I had
for my life. It became obvious to me fast that I needed to
move on as my vision for the company was very different to my
partners. She helped me to figure out where I wanted to go
next. She's helped me define a strategy for easier decision
making in the future and has helped guide me through setting up
my own business. |
|
The
Outcome
|
I'm
now working for myself and loving it. I still have a great collaborative
relationship with my ex-partner but can now take my business where
I want to and it's thriving. Having a coach is like having a
partner without the strings attached. She's there to bounce
ideas off, celebrates my wins and doesn't blame me for my failures.
I get the best of every world! |
|
The
project
|
To
share learning through a disparate team
|
|
The
goal
|
To
share resources and learning across an organization. To stop
reinventing the wheel.
|
|
The
challenge
|
The
team was spread through 36 different countries everybody was
reviewed for the success of their own local projects and the
company was spending millions on reinventing the wheel. |
|
The
strategy
|
Amanda
helped us create a series of Coaching groups and mentor teams. The coaching teams were set up with countries who
were of similar sizes and had similar issues and would meet once a
week with Amanda moderating the group. The mentor teams were
teams of two people with a more experienced mentor mentoring a
less experienced individual from a different country. |
|
The
Outcome
|
It's
working incredibly well. I would estimate that we've saved a
minimum of 20% of our budgets which adds millions directly to our
bottom line and the quality that we're producing across all
countries has improved dramatically. |
